Ozone has powerful oxidation potential and is used to disinfect, sterilize and oxygenate water.  Ozone has been used for over 100 years in Europe by thousands of health care practitioners.  The Water Ozonator-200 is extremely easy to use.  Simply insert the aerator stone and special silicone tubing into a glass of water and then flip a switch and you're ready to go! This appliance runs very quietly and has a timer that can be set up to 30 minutes.  At 215 mg/hr. the Water Ozonator-200 is powerful enough to ozonate olive oil (however, with a 30 min. maximum timer, you will need to monitor this process and reset the timer numerous times). Water Ozonator-200 can saturate an 8 ounce (250mL) glass of room temperature water in less than 5 minutes. This is an effective method of water purification.   Allow the water to stand for 30 minutes before drinking in order for any residual ozone to dissipate.

How Ozone is Produced - Ozone, also referred to as triatomic oxygen, is an unstable gas having a half-life life in water of 30 minutes. Oxygen, which is normally bi-atomic, becomes ozone through the addition of a third unstable atom. Ozone, because of its instability, cannot be generated and stored for future use. It must be generated and used immediately. It is created by one of two generation methods: Ultraviolet radiation or corona discharge. Of the two, corona discharge produces the substantially higher ozone concentration needed for the removal of complex impurities. Generated ozone is pumped into the water through a stone of fine porosity, creating very small bubbles which rise slowly through the water. The slower the bubbles rise through the water, the greater the amount of ozone transferred to the water. Most critically for water quality, ozonation does not add chemicals to the water as does chlorine, chlorine dioxide, permanganate, etc. As the ozone passes through the water, the third unstable atom detaches, attacks, and destroys impurities in the water. The residue in the water is pure oxygen, which quickly dissipates in a few minutes. Any excess dissolved ozone which is not needed reverts to simple oxygen within 20-30 minutes.

Ozonated Olive Oil - if you wish to experiment making ozonated olive oil, there are some important factors to consider. High quality oils should be made using a commercial grade ozonator that uses pure bottled oxygen as its source. This will eliminate contaminants such as nitric oxide and nitric acid. Ozonated olive oils that are fully saturated and solid at room can require up to 3 to 4 weeks of continuous running of a high quality ozonator. The Ozonator 200 can be used to make a lightly infused oil that is suitable for external use on the skin. Applied to the skin, it is beneficial for cuts, scrapes and burns, insect bites, rashes, eczema, herpes, etc., acting as a natural oxidant. A lightly-infused olive oil can be made with several 30 minute timer cycles. Continuous winding of the dial and operating the unit for many hours at a time will build up heat and contribute to early failure of the mechanism. Dr. Hulda Clark has a protocol that includes ingesting small amounts of lightly infused, liquid olive oil. We do not recommend ingesting the olive oil made with the Ozonator 200 as it would not have 100 percent purity due to the small traces of nitric oxides.

Our Ozonator 500 model is much more powerful and has a continuous ON setting as well as an external air dryer cartridge that removes atmospheric moisture. This results in a more concentrated and purer ozonated oil. However, making a fully saturated, solid olive oil would require about 3 to 4 weeks of continuous preparation. Ozonator 500 can be operated for up to several hours at a time, but the internal air pump does not have the power to produce a thicker ozonated oil.

Bacterial Disinfection and Viral Inactivation - the extent of bacteria destruction and viral inactivation is related to the concentration of ozone in the water and its contact time with the microorganisms. Bacteria are the most rapidly destroyed. E-Coli bacteria are destroyed by ozone concentrations of just over .01 mg/liter and contact time of 15 second at temperatures of 25 degrees C (77 degrees F) and 30 degrees C (86 degrees F).* Streptococcus fecalis are much more easily destroyed. At ozone concentrations of about 0.025 mg/liter, 99.99% inactivation is obtained in 20 seconds or less at both temperatures. Viruses are more resistant than bacteria. Polio virus types I, II and III are inactivated by exposure to concentrations of dissolved ozone of 0.4 mg/liter over a four minute contact period.

Oxidation of Inorganics - in the case of iron, manganese and the several arsenite or arsenate compounds, oxidation takes place very rapidly, leaving insoluble compounds which are easily removed by an activated carbon filter. Sulfide ions are oxidized sequentially to sulfate ions, an innocuous substance. The first stage of this oxidation is very rapid, quickly and efficiently removing any sulfurous odors. Nitrite ions are oxidized to nitrate ions, which are stable and innocuous.

Oxidation of Organics - Pesticides, etc. - ozone if a very powerful agent in treating organic materials. Organics are either natural (humic and fulvic acids) or synthetic (detergents , pesticides) in nature. Some organics react with ozone very rapidly to destruction, within minutes or even seconds (phenol, formic acid), whereas other react more slowly with ozone (humic, fulvic acids, several pesticides, trichloroethane, etc.) In some cases, organic materials are only partially oxidized with ozone.  Soaking your meats and produce in Ozone water for 10 to 15 min. can greatly reduce contamination.

Oxygen Reduction Potential (ORP) - the Ozonator is capable of producing a high positive ORP reading of some + 1,000 mV, this is why ozone is able to neutralize bacteria and viruses. When an electron has been stripped away from a particle, it is defined as being "oxidized". When an extra electron is donated to another particle, (such as in the Microwater units) it is defined as being "reduced".  This oxidation and reduction process occurs continuously and naturally within the body and is part of maintaining good health.  For example, when we are sick or have an infection, the body tends to release an abundance of Free Radical compounds in order to help kill the infection.  On the other hand, appliances such as the Microwater Unit produce a Negative - ORP reading.  Negative ORP means there is an abundance of electrons that are available to donate their extra electrical charge to repair Free Radical damage within the body.  Too many Free Radicals can prematurely age and damage the cells, DNA, etc.  The overall environment in today's world tends to create too many Radicals in the body, due to smoking, alcohol, stress, synthetic chemicals, natural aging processes, etc.  Having access to BOTH the Water Ozonator and the Microwater appliance allows one to assist the body in maintaining a healthy balance.
